Paper Lantern Workshop
Paper Lantern Workshop
Thursday, June 18th, & 25th 2026
[ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm ]
A contemplative craft experience where you'll build a paper lantern completely from scratch—transforming raw materials into a handcrafted object that's entirely your own. Each session is intentionally paced, giving you the space to create without rushing.
You'll start with a sketch, using it as a way to clarify your vision before your hands get to work. From there, you'll construct the structural frame of your lantern using wooden dowels and reed, finding your rhythm between the plan you came in with and what the materials naturally want to do.
The centerpiece of the workshop is the paper. Working with delicate, translucent mulberry sheets and glue, you'll apply each layer slowly and deliberately—a process that's as meditative as it is tactile. This is the part people tend to lose themselves in.
The session closes with a collective illumination: LED lights are introduced, and the room transforms as each lantern begins to glow. It's a quiet, genuinely beautiful moment—and a reminder of what's possible when you slow down and make something with your hands.
All materials are provided. No prior experience needed.
